Borrowing Privileges

    All currently enrolled students and employees of Misamis University have borrowing privileges. The Library Borrowers Card (LBC) for students and Faculty Ledger for the employees are used to charge out library materials. The LBC and the Faculty Ledger can be secured from the Library In-Charge. Lost LBC must be reported to prevent unauthorized use.

Students

  1. A student who wants to borrow a book either for photocopying, classroom use, overnight loan, or home reading shall borrow the material personally at the library subject to the specific guidelines applicable to the type of book being borrowed. He / She shall record the details of the book in the LBC and the book card, and present at the time of check out to the Circulation Library In-Charge. The Circulation Library In-charge shall record the book details in the student ledger.
  2. A borrower can borrow a maximum of three (3) books at a time: two (2) General Collection books and one (1) fiction book or one book not in demand. The borrowing period varies according to the type of book, Failure of the borrower to return the books on the due date will mean a fine of Php10.00 per day per book.
  3. A General Collection book with one copy shall be loaned for overnight use only.
  4. Only one (1) book from the Reserve Collection can be borrowed at a time. For overnight use, the book shall be borrowed from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm and shall be returned between 1:00 to 3:00 pm on the following day except on holiday. Failure to abide by this rule will mean a fine of Php20.00 for the first hour and 5.00 for each succeeding hour; computation of fines will be based on the library’s service hours. Reserved books are allowed to be borrowed for overnight use only from Monday to Friday.
  5. Any borrowed book can be subject to renewal provided that no request is made on the book.
  6. Students with due obligations (fines or unreturned books) cannot borrow another book until the said obligation is fully settled.
  7. Lost, misplaced, or damaged books and other reference materials shall be reported immediately to the librarian to prevent fines; and be replaced with the same title within two weeks. However, if the material to be replaced is no longer available in the market, it can be replaced with an updated edition upon the approval of the Library Director.
  8. Students will be allowed to borrow books for home use one (1) week before the Final Examination.

Faculty and Staff

  1. A faculty/ staff member who wants to borrow a book for either classroom use, photocopying, home reading, or overnight loan must personally fill in the book card and present it to the Library In-Charge. The Library In-Charge shall record the details in the book card to the Faculty Ledger before check out.
  2. A faculty and staff can borrow a maximum of three (3) books from the General Circulation Books or Fiction Books. Borrowing period varies according to the type of book. Failure of the borrower to return the books on the due date will mean a fine of Php10.00 per day per book.

Theses, dissertations, journals, magazines, newspapers, clippings, non-book materials, electronic resources (e.g., audio, moving images, videos, still images installed/saved/formatted in CDs, DVDs, and other similar portable devices that require the use of computers and compatible equipment) and reference books such as encyclopedias, yearbooks, dictionaries, almanacs, atlases, gazetteers, government publications, bibliographies directories, and indexes are strictly for library use only.
  7. Globes, maps, or posters may be borrowed for classroom use and shall returned on the same day in the same condition. A fine of Php 10.00 per day per materials will be charged for violation of this guideline.
  8. A faculty/staff with due obligations (fines, unreturned books) cannot borrow another book unless he/she has settled all his /her obligations.
